The parliamentarians celebrated the anniversary in front of the Atatürk Monument, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic.

Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, left a wreath of red and white carnations at the Atatürk Monument at the ceremony. Then, the National Anthem was read while people kept a moment of silence.
