On February 4, 2020, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich paid a visit to Bishkek to meet with Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov, Prime Minister Muhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, and Speaker of the Supreme Council (the Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov.
Myasnikovich’s visit to Kyrgyzstan is the first official one after he became the Chairman of the Board of Eurasian Economic Council on February 1, 2020. The aim of his trip was to discuss strategic areas of the Eurasian economic integration through 2025 and ways to remove existing barriers, exclusions and restrictions in the EAEU market.
Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov congratulated Myansnikovic on becoming the Chairman of the Board of EEC, and stated that he believes the EEC under Mikhail Myasnikovich's leadership will make an essential contribution to further advancement of Eurasian integration. Myasnikovich responded that he would work to follow the interests of all countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Muhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, Myasnikovich and Abylgaziev focused on preparing a document to determine strategic avenues for advancing Eurasian economic integration till 2025. Additionally, the removal of existing barriers and enhancing the supranational competence of the Eurasian Economic Commission were also considered.
Lastly, Myasnikovich met with Speaker of the Supreme Council (the Kyrgyz parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov. Myasnikovich stressed that an economy cannot grow without good legislative support; this is why it is necessary to organize vigorous interparliamentary cooperation amongst EAEU member states. Dzhumabekov noted that continuing the successful cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union is a priority for Kyrgyzstan.
