On February 19, 2020, UAE Minister of Tolerance, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, received Speaker of the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan, Dastan Jumabekov. Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (UAE), and Omar Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the FNC, also joined the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides’ parliamentarians emphasized the importance of friendship and overall cooperation between the two countries and mentioned how crucial it is for parliaments to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance. Jumabekov praised the UAE’s role in supporting and adopting the principles of human fraternity and their efforts to spread these values to unite the international efforts to create a safer and more peaceful future. Ghobash talked about positive outcome from the official visit of Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of Kyrgyzstan, to the UAE in December 2019.
Ghobash and Jumabekov agreed that regional and international developments require cooperation and support from other nations, noting their shared support for United Nations and programmes that counter terrorism and extremism.
