SUBJECT Turkish ambassador meets the speaker of the Pakistani National Assembly

Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul visited Speaker of Pakistani National Assembly Asad Qaiser on November 8th.

 

During the visit, the leaders discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Pakistan. Pakistani Speaker Asad Qaiser said that the two countries share common values such as religion, culture, and history. He added that Pakistan and Turkey are brotherly countries that have always supported each other in times of need.

 

Speaker Qaiser expressed hope that parliamentarians of the two countries could promote harmony and strengthen bilateral ties.

 

During the Thursday’s visit, the Pakistani envoy invited Turkey to join the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. Ambassador of Turkey emphasized that the CPEC will be beneficial for all the countries in the region. CPEC is a $64 billion mega project signed in 2014 which aims to connect China’s strategically important Xinjiang province to the Gwadar Port of Pakistan through roads, railways, and pipelines to transport cargo, oil and gas.

 

Pakistani Speaker Asad Qaiser stated “Pakistan highly values its relations with Turkey, and the new government desires to further strengthen relations between Islamabad and Ankara.”

 

“The people of Turkey consider Pakistan their second home and we wish to see the country always strong and prosperous,” Turkish Ambassador Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul responded. He also stressed the importance of Pakistan’s role in ensuring peace in the region.

 

The ambassador also extended an invitation to the Turkish speaker to the second League of Parliamentarian for Al-Qudus moot scheduled on December 14th in Istanbul.
