Parliamentary Speakers of Vietnam and Russia agreed that parliamentary cooperation is one of the most important pillars of Vietnam-Russia ties.

 

As the two nations actively prepare for the Vietnam Year in Russia, Russia Year in Vietnam, 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on fundamental principles of Vietnam-Russia friendship and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral ties in 2020, Speaker Ngan asked for mutual support to launch activities and hold celebrations during the year.

 

The two leaders also spoke highly of the establishment of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the Vietnamese National Assembly in December of 2018. Speaker Ngan expressed her belief that the commission makes important contributions to ties between the two legislatures and nations.

 

Speaker Ngan suggested that both sides should maintain the exchange of officials in the legislative bodies, their committees and parliamentary friendship groups, enhance the supervision of signed agreements and cooperation projects, build and refine legal framework in support of the two countries’ governments, localities, businesses and people, and facilitate exchange, consultation, and mutual support at multilateral parliamentary forums.

 

Speaker Volodin said that ties between Russia and Vietnam has stood the test of time and grow further in the future. He added that that the two countries’ ministries, departments and agencies would discuss them in detail to carry forward bilateral ties in a wide range of areas.

In the meeting, Speaker Larijani pointed to the vast cultural, political and economic ties between Iran and Armenia which dates back to many years ago, and said that “the two countries of Iran and Armenia have established amicable ties with each other, so that the two countries enjoy high potentials to enhance their bilateral relationship more than ever.”

 

He then pointed to the issue of pollution in Aras River, and said, “This is a human and environmental issue that should be addressed by the Armenian government and environmental sector of the country.”

 

Speaker Mirzoyan emphasized the need to expand and develop economic cooperation between Iran and Armenia, especially through joint economic cooperation commissions. He noted that “Iran and Armenia enjoy many fields of cooperation, so that the two countries can focus on these fields in line with expanding mutual cooperation and collaboration.” He added that Armenia is determined to enhance and develop its amicable tie with Iran, and said that “Armenia will not allow others to tarnish this friendly relationship between Iran and Armenia.”

The two sides noted the high potential and mutual aspiration for the development of Kazakhstan-Russia inter-parliamentary cooperation.

 

Speaker Nigmatulin highlighted that Kazakhstan would adhere to the course of developing strategic interaction with Russia and implementing the agreements reached earlier between the two countries’ presidents – Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Putin. He expressed confidence that the parliaments of Kazakhstan and Russia would continue contributing to this process.

 

In turn, Vyacheslav Volodin underscored dynamic development of Russia-Kazakhstan relations, saying that “the Russia-Kazakh relations are dynamically developing, including in the parliamentary field.” Speaker Volodin also emphasized the role the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, played in the Kazakhstan-Russia relations.
