SUBJECT [Nov 20] Jordanian Prime Minister meets with Kuwaiti delegates from industrial-commercial sectors

On Monday, November 18, 2019, Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz chaired a meeting with Kuwaiti delegates from industrial-commercial sectors.

 

The Kuwaiti delegation team was headed by Mr. Abdul Karim Taqi, Director General of the Kuwaiti Public Authority for Industry. According to a report by Petra, the Jordan News Agency, the Kuwaiti delegation team visited the Kingdom in an attempt to explore investment opportunities.

 

Other members who also attended the meeting include the following: Mr. Tareq Hammouri (Minister of Industry and Trade), Mr. Aziz Daihani (Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan), Mr. Nael Kabariti (Senator and President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce), and Mr. Fathi Jaghbir (President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry).

 

During the meeting, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz put an emphasis on Jordan-Kuwait ties, which he described as “deep” in various fields. The PM also reaffirmed his country’s interest to enhance cooperation, especially in the economic and trade sectors. He discussed investment opportunities in transport and water projects as well, welcoming more Kuwaiti enterprises and ventures in Jordan. The leader cited the World Bank’s 2020 Ease of Doing Business Report, wherein Jordan advanced 29 ranks due to government efforts and helpful feedback from businesspeople. 

 

In turn, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Hammouri, pointed out the importance of bilateral cooperation for global markets. Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Aziz Daihani, called for active implementation of the agreements between the two sides, expressing pride in Kuwait’s position as the top Arab investor for Jordan. When showing his appreciation for Jordan’s efforts to support Kuwaiti businesspeople, Mr. Daihani added that his country is aiming to increase the investment volume, which has already reached $18 billion.

 

Mr. Nael Kabariti expressed his appreciation for the role Kuwait played in meeting the wants of Jordanian, Arab, and foreign investors in the private sector and trade exchange.
