On January 6, 2020, Uzbek Central Election Commission (CEC) announced the final result of the second round of election for the remaining 25 seats of the 150-seat Legislative Chamber, which took place on January 5, 2020.

Out of Uzbekistan’s five political parties, the Liberal Democratic Party (U’zLiDeP), has won the parliamentary elections with 53 seats. The Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (Milliy Tiklanish) gained 36 seats, the Social Democratic Party (Adolat) 24 seats, the People’s Democratic Party 22 seats, and finally the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan secured 15 seats.

This result is actually very similar to the previous election’s result in 2014, where the Liberal Democratic Party, People’s Democratic Party, and the Social Democratic Party respectively gained 52, 27, 20 seats and the other two parties the same number of seats as the most recent.

Also, the number of women within the new parliament doubled from the last parliament, taking over 48 seats out of 150. This is viewed as one of the positive changes that take a step closer to gender equality within Uzbekistan.
