The Third Eurasian Women’s Forum (EAWF 2021) took place in St. Petersburg, Russia, on October 13-15. The forum was held in-person, along with video conferences and online broadcasts, and was co-organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS). Female parliamentarians, entrepreneurs, and public activists from over 100 countries and international organizations such as BRICS, APEC, UNIDO, World Bank, and W20 participated in the sessions.

Under the main theme “Women: A Global Mission in a New Reality,” the EAWF 2021 consisted of seven topics which were “The Women’s Mission to Shape a New Agenda for Peace and Trust,” “Eurasian Women’s Forum Projects: A New Dimension,” “The Women’s Mission to Come Together for a Healthy Future,” “The Women’s Mission to Achieve Digitalization and Economic Development,” “The Women’s Mission to Achieve Social Transformation,” “Eco Programme” and “Women in Agribusiness.” Participants agreed on the idea that it is women’s global mission to create a new agenda based on peace and trust.

In the opening ceremony, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, stated that “the Eurasian Women’s Forum, as a platform for international dialogue, new initiatives, and development of common approaches to global problems, makes the realistic achievement of the goals at this forum closer.” At the plenary session, Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Chair of EAWF 2021, stressed that “the Eurasian Women’s Forum is constant systematic work focused on addressing challenges within the country and development of women’s agenda.” At the “Eurasian Women’s Forum Projects: A New Dimension” session, In Jae-keun, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, emphasized Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) as three key factors that measure the sustainability of investment in companies.

As a result of the meeting, participants adopted the final document which calls upon countries, international organizations, and national public organizations to act decisively in the following key areas: international cooperation for peace and trust, social transformation, a healthy society, digitalization and economic development, and saving the planet.

Held once every three years since 2015, the Eurasian Women’s Forum has become the largest international platform uniting female leaders from all continents where they can discuss the role of women in the modern world and work out new approaches to solving global problems. The 2nd Eurasian Women’s Forum, which took place in September 2018, welcomed participants from 110 countries and 27 international organizations and gave a boost to the new women’s agenda and the expansion of international cooperation.
