On January 8, 2019, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti confirmed that Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina will host the 28th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of EBRD in May 2019.

The Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdic expressed his gratitude toward EBRD for the continuous flow of investments, emphasizing that the bank’s 2019 Annual Meeting will bring together a great number of potential investors.

Chairman Zvizdic noted that EBRD has been one of the largest investors and creditors in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a portfolio higher than 2 billion euros. At this moment, there are 60 projects underway, 80% of which are directed toward infrastructure as a foundation for further economic development.

The Chairman also underscored the need for reform in key areas, as well as visible progress in economic development and in the country’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

President Chakrabarti of EBRD praised the preparations for the Annual Meeting and said that the EBRD will continue to invest in sustainable energy projects, strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises, and improve the process of setting up private and public partnerships.

Estimated 2,000 people are expected to attend this meeting in May, including 67 EBRD governors and several businessmen and investors from all over the world.
