Parliaments are returning back, as COVID-19 crisis is slowly being curbed. Parliaments’ put forward agenda concerning measures to better regulate actions that violate COVID-19 response guidelines, recover economic damage, and increase medical support.

The Turkish Parliament is to resume its full activities on June 1. The parliament had been closed ever since the declaration of hiatus on April 16. They will be working under “new norms” of enhanced hygiene measures such as wearing masks and abiding by social distancing. MPs will work on several legislations that have been put aside during the suspension.

The Parliament of Cyprus will also reopen on June 1. However, the sessions will take place at the Filoxenia Conference Centre, for its larger space can allow more MPs to respect social distancing rules. The Committee on Financial and Budgetary Affairs will discuss new measures to support the economy, and the Committee on Internal Affairs will work on local authority reform. On June 3, the Committee on Legal Affairs will look over two bills, which aims to increase fines for businesses that violate the COVID-19 measures by the Ministry of Health.
