Photo: SCO. SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov congratulates International Nurse Day
May 12 was International Nurse Day. To celebrate this day, the SCO Secretariat has released a video sending their gratitude towards medical workers fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic in the front-line.
In the video, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov and the personnel of the Secretariats from the SCO Member States expressed their thankfulness for the courage and selfless work. Norov mentioned that SCO medical workers are also dedicating themselves to overcome the crisis and sent his deep gratitude. He also highlighted the importance of care at the state level, solidarity, and moral support for the medical workers.
Previously, Norov stated that the countries need to make an effort to cooperate on the principles of mutual support, joint development, and pursuit of the common good. He stated that the current global crisis is different from other global challenges we have faced before, and that it cannot be seen as a crisis only within the medical sphere, although the challenge arose from the pandemic. He claimed that the outbreak is followed by increasing risks that have been neglected, yet acquiring a trans-border nature. Thus, he emphasized that multilateralism and diplomacy need to play a key role in improving global management structures and raising international cooperation to successfully overcome the crisis.
