SUBJECT Chairman of lower house of the Kazakhstan Parliament holds bilateral meeting with deputy speakers at Astana International Parliamentary Conference

On November 26th, Chairman of the Majilis, the lower house of the Kazakhstan parliament, Nurlan Nigmatulin met several deputy speakers of foreign parliaments in bilateral meetings.

 

The meetings were held in the context of the International Parliamentary Conference with the theme “Astana – a Center of Global Integration, Security and Peace.” The conference was dedicated to the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

Parliamentarians, government officials and experts from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, and Kazakhstan gathered in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The conference was chaired by the Kazakh Parliamentary Speaker Nigmatulin. Speaker Nigmatulin said that Kazakhstan has become even more attractive for investors, adding that the country attracted investment of over $300 billion in the last 20 years.

 

“Kazakhstan is among the countries of the modern world with a dynamic economy,” the Speaker said. Kazakh Foreign Minister Kayrat Abdrahmanov added that Kazakhstan would like to expand activities of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic Council.

 

Mustafa Sentop, the deputy speaker of the Turkish parliament, emphasized the two countries’ friendly and brother-like relations, and said that the participants discussed future perspectives and priorities at the conference.

 

Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergey Neverov also discussed bilateral relations and underlined the significance of actively using interparliamentary commissions and cooperation groups. While speaking about strategic partnership, Russian and Kazakh speakers applauded the results of the 15th Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum participated by the heads of state.

 

Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Remigijus Zemaitaitis and the Kazakh speaker stressed the great potential for developing the Kazakhstan-Lithuania cooperation in economy, digital, and financial technologies. The Kazakh speaker also met with Deputy Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Assel Koduranova. During the meeting, the two speakers expressed hope to further increase parliamentary interaction as a part of the two countries’ partnership.
