SUBJECT ROK National Assembly Speaker visits Indonesia for the Fourth MIKTA Speakers' Consultation

Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Moon Hee-sang will visit Indonesia for six days from September 13 to attend “the Fourth MIKTA Parliament Speakers’ Consultation”.

 

MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, Korea, Turkey, Australia) is a cross-regional consultative platform formed to increase mutual understanding and enhance coordination on commmon global issues.

 

MIKTA was created in September 2013 in New York at a meeting held along the Leaders’ Week of the UN General Assembly. Held annually since 2015, the upcoming MIKTA Speakers’ Consultation will mark the fourth meeting.

 

Starting September 14, Moon will meet with the leaders of Indonesian parliament, including Oesman Sapta Odang, the speaker of the Regional Representative Council.

 

In the MIKTA meeting, Speaker Moon will discuss topical issues such as inclusive growth, migration and women.

 

Furthermore, Speaker Moon will deliver a keynote speech on “Innovative industries to support inclusive economic growth” and chair the first session of the MITKA meeting.

 

Through the meeting, Speaker Moon will bolster Korea’s status as a middle power that bridges a gap between advanced and emerging countries.
