PHOTO: EAEU. Five Eurasian Economic Union member countries gathered at Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Intergovernmental Council of EAEU.
On August 9, 2019, Ministers from five countries met in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan to participate in the session of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This event marks the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the EAEU, and the 25th anniversary of the idea of Eurasian integration.
Participants discussed issues in the spheres of integration, trade, international cooperation, customs and technical regulation, industrial and financial policy, implementation of public purchases, digitalization of economies of the Eurasian Economic Union member states, industrial cooperation and a number of other issues. The members of the EAEU Commission also approved the Eurasian technological platform aimed at increasing creative, technical, and financial opportunities of the EAEU member states.
The Eurasian Economic Union, aimed at boosting economic relations, was founded in 2014 between Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia; Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joined later.
Kyrgyz Prime Minister Zamirbek Askarov, Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas participated in the Intergovernmental Council session of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The ministers also adopted a final document determining the strategic areas of development of economic integration until 2025.
