PHOTO: mseap4.kz/en/news. Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, publishes the article «Greater Eurasia: moving towards a common future» for the upcoming 4th Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments (MSEAP).
From September 23 to 24, 2019, the Fourth Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments (MSEAP) will take place in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. The theme of the conference is as follows: "Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership."
In preparation of the conference, Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, shared his ideas in the newspaper «New Europe» in July, 2019.
According to the article written by Speaker Nigmatulin, the number of delegations attending the meeting is increasing annually. This year, invited delegations include the heads of parliaments from 84 European and Asian countries and the heads of 16 international and inter-parliamentary organizations, whose participation will be appreciated as a part of collective efforts to exchange views for a “win-win model” in Eurasia.
Furthermore, Speaker Nigmatulin stressed how critical harmonization of initiatives, liberalization of trade relations, and joint development efforts of infrastructure, along with economic interaction issues such as investment, are when achieving the aforementioned goal. Given Eurasia’s significance in terms of its geographical scope, population size, and GDP, it is of paramount importance to require closer interaction and position Eurasia as a “platform” to resolve differences and seek sustainable development, noted the Chairman.
The Mazhilis Speaker finished by stating that the main objective of the forum is to establish a multilateral dialogue, in which the heads of legislative bodies and the heads of international and inter-parliamentary organizations can deepen their understanding of cooperation in the Eurasian region. Also, the Speaker added his hope of adopting a joint communique at the end of the discussion.
Previous MSEAP forums - the first, the second, and the third - were held in the Russian Federation, the Republic of Korea, and the Republic of Turkey, respectively.
