PHOTO: menafn.com. Qatar and Brazil celebrate their 45-year economic partnership
On October 28, 2019, the heads of state of Brazil and Qatar held a meeting in Doha in order to review the states’ friendship and economic ties. On his official visit to Qatar, President Jair Bolsonaro met with Amir of the state of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, to talk about various matters ranging from political cooperation to investment in the private sector. Ministers of Qatar and official delegation from Brazil also participated.
The two parties also shared ideas on sports, as Brazil is a partner in the infrastructure projects for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
Other important topics covered regional and international security and stability.
The joint statement showed the leaders’ satisfaction at the accomplishments of their bilateral relations, especially in the areas of politics, economy, investment, and diplomacy.
In addition, two agreements – Agreement on air services and Agreement between the Government of Qatar and the Government of Brazil for mutual exemption of entry visa – were drafted and approved.
Along with the two bilateral agreements, four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were also signed at the event.
The two sides signed the following MoUs to promote mutual interests: Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of health, Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on major international events, Memorandum of Understanding in the field of diplomatic training, and Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense of Qatar and the Ministry of Defense of Brazil on defense-related issues.
As diplomatic ties of both parties date back to November 4, 1974, bilateral relations are deepening every year, with expanded areas of cooperation.
