On October 29, 2019, Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic met with Albanian President Ilir Meta in Zagreb, Croatia.
The two sides exchanged ideas on Croatia-Albania relations, which they both considered friendly.
The two leaders also agreed that the declaration on strategic partnership signed last year acted as a pillar that bolstered the bilateral ties.
Speaker Jandrokovic reiterated Croatia’s support for Albania's bid for European Union (EU) membership, expressing his regret about the recent European Council‘s decision not to offer negotiation talks for accession to Tirana.
Earlier on the day of his official visit to Croatia, President Meta received greetings from Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic. The next day, President Meta met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. In the meeting, they discussed Croatia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2020 and its support for EU enlargement, which indicates a brighter outlook for both Albania and the EU.
