PHOTO: Balkan Insight.com. Mr. Ludovic Orban becomes the new Prime Minister of Romania by getting the necessary support from MPs.
On November 4, 2019, leader of the National Liberal Party, Mr. Ludovic Orban, became the new Prime Minister of Romania.
The new Prime Minister took office as he won 240 votes in a parliamentary confidence vote on Monday, getting seven more votes than the required 233.
According to Mr. Orban, choosing the new European Commissioner is his cabinet’s first priority, as Romania’s nominations have been rejected by Brussels three times already. Other objectives of the parliament, as noted by new Prime Minister himself, include restructuring the government, correcting some fiscal and judicial measures, and investing in infrastructure projects.
Appointed as PM by President Klaus Iohannis, Mr. Orban, who previously served as transport minister, is to succeed the former Prime Minister Viorica Dancila of the Social Democratic Party. However, the new Cabinet will not govern for more than a year, as the current legislative term ends in December 2020. Romania is also having its first round of presidential elections on Sunday, November 10.

On November 5, 2019, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang held a meeting with President Chuan Leekpai of Thai National Assembly, who is also the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand.
The two leaders met in Bangkok to discuss China-Thailand relations, which have made remarkable developments over the last few years.
The talks were about bringing closer exchanges between the two states in the legislative and public relations sectors, advancing China-ASEAN relations, and boosting regional integration.
Speaker Chuan Leekpai welcomed Premier Li’s official visit to Thailand and his participation in a series of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation, adding that the Thai people share a close bond with the Chinese people. Recently, the Thai National Assembly also attended the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, as Thailand is willing to show its readiness to reinforce diplomatic ties with China.
