Spain's general election for the 14th Cortes Generals took place on Sunday, November 10. It was the fourth vote in four years. The November election, whose schedule was announced in September, was the result of a failure of government formation, after the previously held April election. Although the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) won the greatest number of seats in April, it did not win the required 176 to be a majority.

This time, PSOE won 120 seats, becoming the largest party in parliament once again. Popular Party (PP) ranked second by winning 88 votes, which is an increase compared to the 66 of the April election. Vox came in third with 52 votes, more than double the number of seats it won in April - 24. Unidas Podemos gained 35 votes, and Citizens (Ciudadanos) received 10 votes.

After the results came out, Spain’s acting Prime Minister and Socialist leader Mr. Pedro Sánchez said his priority was to "form a stable government and do politics for the benefit of the majority of Spaniards." He called upon all political parties for their responsible engagement to resolve the current political impasse.
