SUBJECT President of Bulgaria visits Armenian legislature

Bulgarian President Rumen Georgiev Radev visited the Armenian parliament yesterday, where he met with the Speaker Ara Babloyan of the National Assembly.

 

 

Welcoming President Radev to the parliament, Speaker Babloyan expressed his confidence that the visit would further strengthen the rapprochement of the Armenia-Bulgaria relations.

 

In Speaker Babloyan’s words, Armenia places great importance on the sustainable development of the relations with respect to Bulgaria by extending the political dialogue.

 

The Armenian speaker touched upon the shared success of parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries that has brought about the bolstering of Friendship Group activities, let alone the necessity of cooperation on inter-parliamentary platforms.

Babloyan expressed his gratitude to the Bulgarian people and the authorities of Bulgaria for the open attitude they have demonstrated toward the Bulgarian-Armenians, noting all of them dignified citizens of Armenia who contribute to the development of their country.

 

 

The head of Armenian parliament touched upon the issue of constitutional reform, the parliamentary government system and the rise of the role of the Armenian National Assembly.

 

 

Babloyan presented the situation in the region and reaffirmed the approach of Armenia on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement to resolve the issue exclusively through means of peaceful negotiations.

 

 

The Bulgarian President also thanked his Armenian counterparts for the hospitality and presented the delegation comprised of the parliamentarians.

 

 

Radev also commented on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting that Bulgaria should combine efforts with the European Union in order to stabilize the region.
