SUBJECT Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly meets MP of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly

On November 27th, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Ara Babloyan met MP of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), Masume Aghapur Ali Shahi.

 

The IRI MP Masume Aghapur Ali Shahi visited Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, to attend the 52nd Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC).

 

Armenian Speaker Babloyan currently serves as the president of the PABSEC. Parliamentarians from the PABSEC member states, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine, gathered for the general assembly.

 

 

Armenian Speaker Ara Babloyan spoke highly of the Armenian-Iranian relations and stressed the importance of interparliamentary cooperation for further developing and strengthening the bilateral relations.

 

In particular, the Armenian speaker highlighted the active work of the Friendship Groups. Armenian speaker also expressed gratitude toward the IRI authorities and the Iranian people for showing kindness.

 

While discussing regional issues, Speaker Babloyan emphasized the two countries’ joint efforts, especially the role of parliaments, for the region’s stability and peace.

 

In response, MP Masume Aghapur Ali Shahi thanked the speaker for the meeting. The MP also said that the parliaments of the two countries have been cooperating closely, and expressed hope to continue the traditions in the future. MP Masume Aghapur Ali Shahi said that Armenian community made contributions to Iran and stressed the parliaments’ role in strengthening the bilateral ties.

 

The two representatives emphasized the importance of interparliamentary activities including mutual visits and meetings.
