President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited Azerbaijan from August 9 to 11 in an effort to strengthen Tajikistan-Azerbaijan relationships.
As Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov, the President showed confidence that bilateral relations with Azerbaijan will grow stronger based on friendship and partnership.
The Premier also expressed hopes of continued development of the two countries’ relationships on political, economic, and humanitarian aspects.
On the same day, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met the President of the Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The two Presidents signed “the Joint Declaration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan” in a ceremony following an expanded meeting.
In the presence of two Presidents, twelve documents were signed in total, including in the sectors of Export and Investment, Broadcasting, Industrial Corporation. Cooperation agreements were also signed by Prosecutor Generals, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, and of Economy.
During the official visit, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon engaged with the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov on a working dinner. They discussed prospects for development of Azerbaijan-Tajikistan interparliamentary cooperation.
The Azerbaijan-Tajikistan documents signed on August 10, 2018 are as following:
“The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan”;
“The Memorandum of Understanding between the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation and Tajik Aluminum State Unitary Enterprise”;
“The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Closed Joint Stock Company and the Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan”;
“The Memorandum of Understanding on supply of petroleum coke between SOCAR and TALKO companies”;
“The Agreement between the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan on training servicemen of the border troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Academy of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan”;
“The Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of veterinary service”;
“The Protocol on mutual allocation of annual education quotas between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan”;
“The Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan”;
“The Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the fields of industry and new technologies”;
“The Agreement on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Tajikistan”;
“The Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2019-2020”.
